The Belgrade Book Fair 2017

The last week of October is the week of The International Belgrade Book Fair. This time, I’ve managed not to buy 50+ books. I bought 40+, and you see some of them in the picture above.

Of course, I don’t buy books only in October. I bought a huge fencing encyclopedia before the Fair, and I bought some books after the Fair, too. What can I say, I’m hopeless.

Anyway, this year was a lot of fun. It was wonderful to see a lot of children and teenagers happily buying books or just hanging around and enjoying themselves. The Wonder Woman pictures were fun. Spending time with fellow authors and bookworms is always great (hey, who doesn’t like that?). And, of course, there were books. Many books.

About 25% of the books I bought were those written by local authors (and after the Fair, I bought more books by local authors). Mostly fantasy, a bit of horror, a bit of science fiction, and one wonderful book for children.

Then, there was a bunch of YA books (Leigh Bardugo, John Green, Angie Thomas, Sherman Alexie, Becky Albertalli), and books by David Mitchell, Lovecraft, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Victor Pelevin, Thomas Bernhard, Herman Melville (Bartleby the Scrivener), Andrzej Sapkowski, Thomas Ligotti, Ransom Riggs (stories), W. Somerset Maugham (The Magician)… You get the picture. Many books, various genres, classics, old stuff, new stuff… And three graphic novels (two Deadpools and We3).

There’s always the question: when am I going to read all those books? Honestly, I have no idea. I mean, I’ve read 19 out of 40+, but considering that I keep buying new ones, the question remains.

Oh, well. At least I’m unlikely to run out of books to read.

Take a look at the pictures!
