I still don’t really feel like writing.
Or like doing anything.
And it’s not about COVID-19, not primarily. Yes, the pandemic is bad, but the sheer amount of stupidity is far worse. And greed and corruption and whatnot, but without stupidity, it wouldn’t work, and it wouldn’t kill so many people. The theories I’ve heard lately (like the one about the AI faking the pandemic in order to control us) make me feel like I’ve permanently lost some brain cells.
I know, I know, all the stupid was around before the pandemic, too, and not just among the general population. Medical personnel now claims (not all of them) that wearing masks reduces the oxygen supply (never mind the surgeons who sometimes wear them for 15+ hours during the operation without suffocating or fainting), just like they’ve claimed in the past that Always sanitary pads cause HPV infections.
People forget their own training so quickly, so what can be expected from those who educate themselves by watching YouTube conspiracy theory videos?
It’s so depressing, really.
And I don’t want to feel like that, so perhaps this one would be appropriate for the current mood:
And other than that?
I’m reading, working (not much), watching stuff, getting ice cream for the heat wave…
Currently reading: Exhalation by Ted Chiang. Another short story collection of his, all the stories so far have good ideas, and the author explores them to the end. Which sometimes results in a good story, sometimes in a somewhat boring story, and sometimes in beauty, like The Great Silence.
Recently read: two books by Borges (Aleph and Fictions) and a few books by local authors.
Currently watching: too many things at the same time. The second season of Lucifer, the fourth season of Preacher, and the fourth season of The Good Place. I mean, they’re all good, but the way I’m going, I won’t finish anything soon, and the fifth season of Lucifer hits Netflix in August.
Recently watched: the first season of Lucifer, the third season of Preacher, Ad Astra (good once I realized it was actually a family drama, so slow was fine) and What We Do in the Shadows (the movie, more concise and actually more fun than the series, and I’ve enjoyed the series).
Currently working on: work, when there’s any (sometimes there’s plenty, sometimes next to nothing), trying to read and watch stuff instead of just collecting it like a hamster going nuts, trying to survive the heat and to avoid seeing too much stupid (not working)…
And that’s pretty much it.
