June News 2021

As it turned out, the second dose of the Astra Zeneca vaccine really didn’t have strong side effects, though it still did make me tired and sleepy for longer than expected. Which is, you know, not bad at all, considering the alternative.

And then came something else that made me tired: the heat wave. I know, I know, it’s June and it’s hot, not exactly a surprise, but knowing doesn’t make me feel less tired.

And feeling tired means it takes me longer to do anything. Work. Chores. Even reading.

So, what am I doing?

Currently reading: Avanture pobednika by Vladimir Kolarić (in other words, my friend published another book, yay!). So far it’s been a fun read, though work doesn’t leave me much time for reading.

Recently read: The City We Became by N. K. Jemisin. This is the first book of hers I’ve read, and while there were things I’ve enjoyed (like city magic, including defeating a scary weird thing from another dimension with a rap battle, or with math, or simply by kicking it hard because Brooklyn…), plus the concept was interesting even if it wasn’t completely new, it left me with a feeling that it could have been told better. It could have been a lot more fun. Yeah, there was plenty of fun (she put that woman who became a meme for being racist into the book!), and I am going to read the rest of the trilogy when it comes out, but… There was this come on, you’ve got some great ideas here, and I like the concept, why isn’t the writing better when it’s obvious you can do better? feeling the whole time.

Oh, well, I’ll definitely read the next ones, too.

Currently watching: Loki, when the new episode comes out. It’s fun! And it’s Loki!

There are other series I keep planning to watch, but… Work.

Currently working on: work, when there’s any, and lately there was quite a bit. Which is good, of course, I just wish I wasn’t so tired.

And that would be pretty much it this time, see you next month! (Yes, I know it starts tomorrow)
